Activities run for Secondary School Children

Tennis

The aim of the Tennis classes is to, learn a sport and therefore develop the confidence to try other sports, provide an opportunity for exercise, develop eye hand coordination and visual attention skills, develop ability to follow instructions and develop social skills and friendships. Our Tennis classes are kept small (six per class) so as to aid concentration and therefore players are rotated each week so that everyone can have an opportunity to play. Tennis sessions are for children in Year 7 and above.

Secondary Dance

Our Secondary Dance groups are run for us by The Stopgap Dance Company who work with our young people every Saturday during term time. The Stopgap Dance Company is the resident dance company of Farnham Maltings and the University of Surrey and is a truly inclusive company that employs both disabled and non-disabled dancers. Our young people are also given the opportunity throughout the year to perform at some local events as well as numerous platforms where they can show case their work. These sessions are for children in Year 7 and above.

Termly Social Events

Stepping Stones aims to run social events during the year for our young people, we use an online survey to ask what they would like to do and mainly want to have fun activities, with their friends and definitely not with their parents. Example events that we run are Bowling, Donutting and a yearly teenager Christmas Party.
