Stepping Stones DS provides a wide range of activities & services to help our children & young people with Down syndrome to
fulfil their potential .
Activities & services
In addition to providing an opportunity for families to become part of a local support network, Stepping Stones DS provide a wide range of educational, physical and social activities and services for children and young people with Down syndrome, their families and the professionals involved in their care.
Activities
Our activities help our children and young people to develop key skills and provide the opportunity to build friendships with their peer group.
Preschool
Sensory Suite
Private group sessions in a sensory environment that offer different visual and textural experiences to stimulate the senses.

Early Development Groups
Groups led by a speech and language therapist with activities that target development stages including; communication, speech, receptive
and expressive language, number, memory, reading, play and cognition.
Primary
Dance and Drama
Performing arts to in-crease physical skills as well as confidence, self esteem and social skills.
Secondary
Dance
Building self confidence and learning to explore emotions through the medium of dance.

Tennis
Improving fitness and co-ordination in a fun social active group activity.
16 Plus
Social Communications Group
This group enables our young adults to explore all aspects of social communication in a safe and inclusive environment facilitated by specialist speech language therapists.

Ad hoc activities
We arrange activities and get togethers for our older children such as bowling, socials events and theatre trips.
Our Support Services & Training
Our activities help our children and young people to develop key skills and provide the opportunity to build friendships with their peer group.
Stay & Play
Our monthly Stay and Play is open to any Stepping Stones family member to get to know others, share knowledge and ask questions in a relaxed setting. Preschool children are welcome.
Training

School Outreach Service
Mainstream School Outreach
Our Mainstream Outreach Service provides schools with support and advice on including and educating a child, or young person, with Down syndrome in a mainstream classroom.
Special School Outreach
Our Special School Outreach service provides advice on the learning profile of Down syndrome as well as child-specific observation
and recommendations to maximise learning opportunities.
